Loving the FREE Music

There is nothing I like more than Free stuff but I think the ultimate score is FREE MUSIC. The anticipation over whether you have just discovered your new favorite artist or the lamest single is always so exciting.

Sure iTunes single of the week has had its fair share of disappointments but mixed in there were some unforgettable gems that made their way onto my most played playlist. Upon walking into Osheaga all attendees were given a free 15 song sampler filled with hit tunes from Osheaga artists. Many of the songs were already in my library but it was still a great score none the less. I also can't forget the free CD given to me at the Froshashana Party which hasn't found its way onto my iTunes but my friend Lori loves it and swears it keeps her up while driving late at night.

However, This week I found something even better than 1 free single, a 15 song sample and a driving CD, I found a free 29 playlist! Well truthfully, someone else found it on facebook and I just investigated. Anyways iTunes is giving away 29 songs (though they advertise only 25?) to all members. So my suggestion to you is if you don't already have one, set up an iTunes account and then head to this link and start redeeming.

The iTunes Canada Facebook Back to School Sampler is filled with genres for every kind of music lover. One Tree Hillers will be pleased with Kate Voegele aka Mia's "Angel" and POP Montreal's Joel Plaskett's "Wishful Thinking" is sure to be a new favorite. Artists like Metric, Alexisonfire, Our
Lady Peace, The Great Lake Swimmers are also featured.

Oh and for the Fun. fans aka those who were with me at the Jack's Mannequin concert and got the free single emailed to them (you know who you are) their song "All the Pretty Girls" makes an appearance too.
Sorry for the brief 30 sec demo guess imeem no longer allows full songs to be embedded :(

My Guilty Pleasure

I like Taylor Swift. Which is hard for me to admit after mocking certain friends like Paige who told me the same thing. I even bought the song on iTunes twice because the first time it went missing after it was downloaded. I just can't help but sing along to Love Story. I don't know how I let this happen but I already know all the words and have even watched the music video...twice. Not to mention I just wrote a blog post about the song. My only complaint though is that I know get all this country music suggestions in my Genius on iTunes.

Moving on, I don't know how much I appreciate the fact facebook is making me adapt again. The truth is that I know in max 2 weeks I won't even notice the changes. What is interesting about it though is that many twitterers have been commenting on
its similarity to twitter. And I think they are dead on....

Top 3 - Songs (for now)

Note: These are not my favorite songs of all time but merely my favorite songs of this week.

Narrowing down my playlist was quite the challenge and so was not choosing 3 Jack's Mannequin songs. Also knowing me, I will probably regret my choices within 2 seconds of posting this.
But here it goes anyways:

Jack's Mannequin - Swim
I discovered Jack's from One Tree Hill. I owe most of my iTunes library to that show. Out of 21 songs on the album I struggled to decide between Hammer and Strings and Swim both are awesome. I liked the Hammer and Strings melody more but Swim won because the lyrics deal which deal with his struggle with Leukemia are just so inspiring . I definitely suggest paying careful attention to the words.

The Band of Horse - Funeral
This song was a recommendation from one of my music gurus. It is a little old but I still love it and love them so I put it on my list.

The Funeral - Band Of Horses

Coconut Records - West Coast
This was a post summer discovery recommended by another a music guru. Fun Fact it features a Phantom Planet ex band member so if you nostalgic towards the O.C while listening you now know why.

West Coast - Coconut Records

p.s - I apologize that my Sunday Top 3 appears on a Tuesday

WOW

Today, well actually tonight at 8:22 I became an aunt!!! Auntie Em to be exact.
Weighing in at 7.4 lbs Noa is the cutest little girl I have ever seen.

picture to be replaced by one of Noa asap

Pre hospital visitation I did something I haven't done in ever. I went into HMV and bought a CD. As an iTunes enthusiast, this purchase was totally out of character but it was also very satisfying:

Jack's Mannequin - The Glass Passenger
.
LOVE

I promise that tomorrow amidst my typical Friday procrastinations, I will update this blog a little more.
